Huerfano County has a mapping officer who produces detailed maps of the county for use by emergency first responders, law enforcement, fire protection personnel, search-and-rescue, the county assessor's office, and for us: the public. While he is well hidden downstairs in the County Courthouse, if you ask, it will be well worth your effort to find him. He is doing an incredible job, one that puts most other rural counties to shame. However, go to him only if you need detailed maps of the county or of particular areas of the county. If you need subdivision plat maps, the place to go is the County Clerk & Recorder's Office. In that office are all of the recorded vellums for every subdivision in Huerfano County. They have an excellent large-scale copier and can usually deliver the particular map(s) you need in a matter of minutes (and the price is minimal - $5 per sheet).
