Below is a dated list of additions and changes to this website as a record of our progress: 2-12-06 - Continuing to fill out pages and update links, added this page and San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad page, plus the link to the web stats. Uploaded several pages on sangres.com with links to this site and requested indexing from Google, MSN and Yahoo.2-23-06 - Added Satellite Views, Zebulon Pike and Code of the West pages. Added tentative schedules and rates to San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad page. Validated CSS and then XHTML on all pages. 2-24-06 - Added Other Helpful Links and associated framesets, then linked back through the site so we can get an accurate click-through count. 3-10-06 - Added Volcanic Plugs, Buttes and Cones, Pass Creek Road and some photos to Sheep Mountains. Have begun building a section for high-res photos that have been requested for various print ads. As requests are made, I upload the photos and then email specific addresses to the recipients and they download as they need. Requests can be forwarded through the Huerfano County Tourism Advisory Council or the CSU Extension Office in Walsenburg. Added "Spectacular Saturdays" to Calendar of Events. 3-20-06 - Added Pike Bicentennial Drive, and updated CSU page, Our Western Heritage Index page, Index page, and Events Calendar. 3-22-06 - Added links to Walsenburg and La Veta Libraries and Spanish Peaks Cycling. 4-19-06 - Filled out the Gardner page, updated links. 5-1-06 - Added Colorado Workforce Center and Tom Sharp pages, and updated links. 5-24-06 - Added Fire Restrictions & Emergency Closures and updated links. Begin tuning major pages to search engine queries for added traffic. 6-18-06 - Added Geographic Information Systems and updated links. We have been noticed by the spammers and the amount of garbage coming through is adding up. 10-19-06 - Finally had enough of the flood of spam and scam (probably 95% of all received email with another 3% coming from folks who should have picked up the phone, as the website suggests, and another 1.5% being genealogical requests) and removed the info request form. Until we get the tourism tax approved by the voters we don't have the manpower or the equipment to deal with this anyway. The info request page now says to either call or go the County's two Chambers of Commerce. I took this step after discussions with the County Commissioners and a couple members of the County Tourism Advisory Board. |
